What is this?

Helps startups access loans by assuring lenders that the government will cover part of the risk, easing collateral-free borrowing for young businesses.

Objectives

  • Provide credit guarantee, up to a specified limit, against loans from Member Institutions to DPIIT-recognised startups; operated by the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC).

Who can apply?

  • Eligible Scheduled Commercial Banks, Financial Institutions, RBI-registered NBFCs, and SEBI-registered AIFs can become Member Institutions.
  • Eligible borrowers are DPIIT-recognised startups.

What do you get?

  • Maximum guarantee of ₹20 crore or actual outstanding credit, whichever is less — for both transaction-based and umbrella-based cover.

How to apply

  • Apply via a Member Institution, or through the Jan Samarth portal's business-loan section.
